ELCA in Support of Sanctuary Cities

8/7/2017

Here is another example of ELCA leadership pushing their liberal policies. An article titled "Religious groups join suit against ‘sanctuary cities’ law" reports that,

"Six bishops from the Episcopal Diocese along with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the United Methodist Church and Texas Impact filed a friend of the court brief against SB 4.In total, they represent at least 142,000 parishioners and 461 congregations in Texas, according to the filing." (see here) SB 4 is "a so-
called sanctuary cities ban."

This isn't the first time the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America leadership has taken up the sanctuary cause. Earlier this summer a number of ELCA synods declared themselves "Sanctuary Synods." (see here)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as well as ELCA's Augsburg College, Allan Belton - President of Pacific Lutheran University, Christopher Kimball - President of California Lutheran University, Paula Carlson - President of Luther College, Richard Helton - Interim President of Wittenberg University reveal their belief in human-caused climate change by signing a letter that states they will work to reduce climate change and also states their opposition to the United States withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. If you listen to the ELCA and their Middle East terrorist-sympathizing friends, you would think Israel is evil and the cause of all problems there. Not so; listen to this Arab woman's support of the Jewish State. (see information on the ELCA and Israel here)

The ELCA's South Dakota Synod wrote about and posted a link to an article about an "Anti-hate" focused organization, South Dakota Faith in Public Life. That organization was funded/given a grant by George Soros' Open Society Foundation.

The newspaper article also states "An all-day interfaith meeting on the topic will take place on April 25 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church as part of the anti-hate efforts." (see here)

Below is a Facebook post by the ELCA's South Dakota Synod stating how they "stood in solidarity today with our brothers and sisters in the Islamic community against Islamophobia perpetrated by South Dakota's legislators..."

This is the South Dakota Resolution:

"A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION, Commending President Donald J. Trump in his commitment to keeping the country safe from radical Islamic terrorism.

WHEREAS, the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, delivered his first address to Congress; and

WHEREAS, the presidential address, according to nearly all press reports, had the effect of bringing the country together; and

WHEREAS, the President has indicated his commitment to keeping our nation safe from radical Islamic terrorism:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Senate of the Ninety-Second Legislature of the State of South Dakota, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the South Dakota Legislature, would like to commend the President for his unifying words and his commitment to the safety of the American people." The world is suffering from Islamic terrorism and by those who aid and abet it.

The ELCA's CheckPoint Lie

1/10/2017

We hear the ELCA rant and rave about Palestinian hardships because of Israeli checkpoints. (see "checkpoint" search on ELCA.org here)

It is fabricated. A lie. Not a surprise coming from a denomination which holds Israel as the enemy, focuses on them (rather than on atrocity-committing countries), and seeks to harm them financially and politically, while pushing policies that will endanger their survival. See the truth in this video. (caution: some adult language)

Radical Group's Goals for the ELCA

12/15/2016

#DecolonizeLutheranism is a group made up of extremely radical ELCA pastors, seminary students and leaders (see here) and has gathered a sizeable following in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. They held their first gathering in Chicago this year which 200 people attended (they cut off registration at this number) and have been featured on the ELCA's Northeast Iowa Synod website. (see here)

Below you will find @decolonizeLutheransim's goals:

The ELCA's Only Position on Homosexuality

11/28/2016

ELCA schools love to shout their support for homosexuality. And notice that none declare they are proponents of traditional marriage and hold to Scripture's view that homosexuality is a sin.

If the only position you hear from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and all the subsidiaries is in favor of homosexuality and gay marriage one has to come to the conclusion that that is what they stand for. They are not neutral on the subject and those members that disagree with homosexuality are not represented in the leadership.

ELCA Bishop Speaks at Installation of the First Gay Bishop in the UMC

9/17/2016

Karen Oliveto is the first openly gay bishop in the United Methodist Church. She is married to another woman. The ELCA, never wanting to miss a moment to celebrate homosexual milestones that go against Scripture, and in this case may split the Methodist church, was there and actively participated in Bishop Oliveto's installation.

Bishop Jessica Crist, bishop of the Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America participated and spoke during the introduction and welcoming portion of Karen Oliveto's installation service.

Bishop Crist was the chair of the ELCA Conference of Bishops from 2011 to 2015.

The Bible clearly communicates that homosexuality is a sin. Bishop Oliveto is openly gay. Participation in the installation of a church leader who is living in overt and unrepentant sin is, in the very least, tacit approval of the sin.

See the Bishop Oliveto's installation service here. ELCA Bishop Crist appears at the 36 minute mark.

Pacific Lutheran University's Abominable Play

2/29/2016

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) colleges are not Christian.

Case in point, Pacific Lutheran University, an ELCA college, hosted a production of “The Vagina Monologues,” a vulgar play that focus' on the subjects of sex, menstruation and female genitalia. Pacific Lutheran University students expanded on the play writing some of their own monologues and the PLU creative director for the production explains why saying, “We wanted to get more trans women, more queer women, more women of color to talk about their experiences." (see here)

The article also says that the play is a "familiar Pacific Lutheran University tradition" and a comment here says, "I go to Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA and we have had it every year for at least ten years or so. It always draws a huge crowd."

Is this a Christ honoring play? Only someone who has a false understanding of Jesus would say "yes."

The late Bishop John D’Arcy wrote this regarding the play:"The Vagina Monologues is offensive to women; it is antithetical to Catholic teaching on the beautiful gift of human sexuality and also to the teachings of the Church on the human body relative to its purpose and to its status as a temple of the Holy Spirit. The human body and the human person, in the tradition of the Church, must never be seen as an object.
This play violates the truth about women; the truth about sexuality; the truth about male and female, and the truth about the human body." (see here)

Gustavus Adolphus College is another ELCA school that has subjected their students to a production of "The Vagina Monologues." (see here)

The ELCA's Masculine Deity Word Evasion

1/11/2016

God Pause devotions are daily reflections sent out by Luther Seminary, a school of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As most of you know, the ELCA is notorious for avoiding the use of masculine words for God. The God Pause devotion for January 8, 2016, gives us another painful example of their masculine deity word evasion.

“There, and in so many other places around the world, God calls us into deeper relationship with God through God's son as God declares to each of us how special we are as God's children, now prepared and sent to participate in ministry with God.” (see here)

See more examples of the ELCA's extreme use of gender neutral language for God here.

People Change

10/20/2015

People change. Over the last 14 years support for same-sex marriage in America has increased by 20%. (see here)  When I went to Wartburg Theological Seminary (ELCA) there were a few Bible-believing, orthodox/conservative students that I could look to for support. Today I came across one of those students (now an ELCA pastor) pictured on the ReconcilingWorks website along with an article saying that his church is now a Reconciling in Christ congregation.

"ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation" is an organization that "advocates for the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church and congregations." (see here) And his church has now become a congregation that "welcome and affirm people of...every sexual orientation and gender identity" (see here)

Americans view on gay marriage changed, for the most part, because of the decline in Biblical belief and the normalization of homosexuality brought into our homes through the entertainment we watch.

If you are not reading your Bible and you study or sit under the leadership of liberal teachers, pastors and bishops who support homosexuality (and other liberal theological positions) you are in danger of compromising your Biblical beliefs and conforming to their position.

Does the ELCA Teach and Believe in Universalism?

9/28/2015

Yes, the ELCA does teach and believe in universalism. Many ELCA leaders are believers in universalism. Many ELCA seminary professors are teachers of universalism. The ELCA publishes articles supportive of universalism. And no condemnation of this teaching comes forth from the ELCA. So yes, they teach it and they are supportive of the teaching. Here are some links to articles about the ELCA and universalism. Many of the articles have links to the ELCA (leaders, teachers, pastors, ELCA publications, ELCA schools and ELCA websites) stating their belief in universalism.

An issue that goes hand in hand with universalism is the belief that there is no hell. Here's some information on the topic of hell with relation to the ELCA. http://www.exposingtheelca.com/exposed-blog/category/hell

Dr. Martin Luther King and Same Sex Attraction

8/18/2015

Here is how Dr. Martin Luther King answered this question -

"Question: ...I am a boy, but I feel about boys the way I ought to feel about girls. I don't want my parents to know about me. What can I do? Is there any place where I can go for help?

Answer: Your problem is not at all an uncommon one. However, it does require careful attention. The type of feeling that you have toward boys is probably not an innate tendency, but something that has been culturally acquired. Your reasons for adopting this habit have now been consciously suppressed or unconsciously repressed. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with this problem by getting back to some of the experiences and circumstances that lead to the habit. In order to do this I would suggest that you see a good psychiatrist who can assist you in bringing to the forefront of conscience all of those experiences and circumstances that lead to the habit. You are already on the right road toward a solution, since you honestly recognize the problem and have a desire to solve it."
